1. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small value that a website can ask your browser to store and return with later requests. LocalStorage is a different browser facility: a page can save information under its own origin and read it again on future visits. LocalStorage values are not automatically attached to every HTTP request as cookies are. Both technologies can fall within laws governing storage or access on a user’s device.
This website’s own JavaScript does not create HTTP cookies. It uses one localStorage entry to remember a privacy choice. The inventory below distinguishes that entry from categories that are not currently used. The site contains no advertising pixels, third-party analytics, embedded interactive maps, remote fonts or social-media widgets. Homepage photographs are fetched from Unsplash’s image service; the resulting third-party requests are explained in section 5.
2. Current storage inventory
| Category | Name / provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential preference | mmg-cookie-choice-v1First-party localStorage | Records accept, reject or essential-only, a policy version and the time saved. | Until changed, cleared or removed by the browser; no automatic expiry. |
| Essential cookies | None set by this code | No login, shopping basket or server session is included. | Not applicable. |
| Analytics | None | No visit measurement or behavioural analytics. | Not applicable. |
| Functional | None optional | No saved favourites, language setting or third-party map preference. | Not applicable. |
| Advertising | None | No ad targeting, retargeting or cross-site advertising profiles. | Not applicable. |
The stored value contains no name, email address or randomly generated visitor identifier. It remains within the browser storage available to this site’s origin and is not sent by the included script to an analytics service. It is still information stored on your device, so you should be able to understand and control it.
3. What the banner buttons do
Accept All records an acceptance choice and dismisses the banner. Reject Non-Essential records rejection and dismisses it. Since no optional tracking is installed, both choices currently produce the same tracking-free browsing behaviour. Acceptance is not permission to introduce unrelated tracking later without the information and consent required by law.
Preferences opens a summary of the current setup. Saving the essential-only option replaces any earlier selection. Closing the panel without saving leaves the earlier state unchanged. The footer preference control remains available on every page, so you do not need to wait for the banner to reappear.
These controls do not block ordinary photograph requests to the external image provider. Photographs may load before you make a selection and remain available with either choice.
4. Remove or block storage in your browser
In Chrome, open Settings, then Privacy and security, and locate Site settings or the controls for site data. Search for this domain and remove its stored data. In Edge, use Settings and the site-permission or stored-data controls. In Firefox, open Settings, Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data and Manage Data. In Safari on macOS, use Settings, Privacy and Manage Website Data. Mobile versions place equivalent controls under browser settings or system app settings; names can change between releases.
Choose removal of website data, not only browsing history, to clear localStorage. Clearing this site’s data makes the banner appear again on a future visit. Blocking storage does not prevent you from reading the guides or using navigation, but the site may be unable to remember your choice between pages. Private-browsing storage is usually removed when the private session ends.
5. External services and future changes
Homepage photographs are served from images.unsplash.com. Loading them sends your IP address and request headers to that provider. Image elements use referrerpolicy="no-referrer" to omit the referring page address, but this does not prevent the provider from receiving the request. Images may also be retained in your browser’s normal HTTP cache, according to browser settings and the image service’s response headers; this is separate from the preference entry listed above.
The supplied code does not intentionally create image-provider cookies or include an Unsplash tracking script. Third-party response headers and infrastructure can change and have not been audited here. Consult the Unsplash privacy policy for its practices. A deploying operator must verify the live image service’s storage behaviour and update this inventory and any required controls if it changes.
Following an external link takes you to a separately operated service that may use its own cookies. Preparing an email draft also involves your selected email application, whose storage and privacy practices are separate. Hosting providers may add infrastructure behaviour not present in these files; a deploying operator must audit that environment and update this inventory if necessary.
No analytics or advertising system is present to act on a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. Such signals do not change the required preference-storage mechanism. If optional tools are added, this notice and the preference controls must be updated before activation where consent is required. For related information, read the privacy policy. The intended privacy contact is [email protected]; publisher details and inbox availability remain unverified in this static edition.
